ADVAPRIM EMULSION (THIXO) is an emulsified thixotropic bitumen cold applied protective coating. The coating dries to form I a black flexible protective film. The finished film forms a tough barrier to water and vapor transmission.
ADVAPRIM EMULSION (THIXO) is used for providing waterproofing and damproofing for below ground concrete structures which are above the water table. This can also be used as the protective coating for built-up roofing systems and other exposed surfaces. The coating is also used as a moisture vapor barrier on block works and concrete surfaces prior to cladding. This can also be used as a liquid primer for the application of torch applied waterproofing bituminous membranes
The application temperature should be between 4°C to 45°C. Application procedures may vary slightly depending upon site conditions.
The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curing compound, oil and grease. Damaged and uneven concrete must be removed and repaired with a suitable concrete repair mortar.
Primer is always recommended prior to coating as it not only penetrates into the concrete pores and seals the substrate. It also acts as an adhesion promoter for further coatings. The primer coat can be made at the site by diluting the same bitumen emulsion with 25% water. The primer may be applied by a brush, roller or airless spray. Allow the primer to dry before any further coats are applied.
Stir the contents of the pail/drum thoroughly prior to application to remove any sediment. The application can be done with a roller, brush or airless spray. Apply the coating at a coverage rate of 1-5 m2/ltr/coat, depending on the dry film thickness required. When applied at 5m2/ltr/coat, the dry film thickness achieved will be 100 microns. Further coats shall be applied only after the previous coat dries off completely. However the coverage depends on the smoothness and porosity of the substrate and the required thickness of the coating.
Waterproofing and vapor barrier coatings :
15 Ltr/ 20 Ltr Pails & 200 Ltr drums.
The pails and drums must be stored in a covered area, away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat. The shelf life is up to 12-18 months.
Protective clothing such as gloves and goggles should be worn when handling the product. Treat any splashes to the skin or eyes with fresh water immediately. Seek medical assistance in case of any accident.
